SUMMARY
A detailed analysis was undertaken for the Steam Packet Company to help determine the specification of a new custom built vessel intended to serve the Douglas – Heysham route:
8,470 people responded to survey asking for views on customer needs, travel preferences and satisfaction, as the Steam Packet Company developed plans for a major investment in its fleet. This included just over 5,000 Isle of Man residents as well as a large number of customers residing off-island.
It found that the following were amongst the amenities considered important on a new ferry:
- A selection of lounges with more tables
- A larger and more comfortable area for passengers travelling with pets
- A children’s play area suitable for a wider range of ages
- Larger lifts from the vehicle deck
