SUMMARY
Research with firms in the financial services industry to help the regulator better understand and meet the needs of the sector:
In 2018 and 2023 the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority commissioned Island Global Research to conduct an Industry Survey aimed at obtaining feedback from the firms it regulates, supervises and oversees. We worked with the Authority to encourage firms to complete the survey and achieved high response rates.
The research invited comments on the effectiveness of the Authority in relation to its role, objectives and responsibilities, its approach to supervision and oversight, and its engagement with industry.
In each case an online survey gained quantitative feedback from a wide range of firms. Understanding was then supplemented by qualitative data collection through in-depth interviews with senior representatives of a sample of firms.
In both 2018 and 2023 the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority set out an action plan in response to feedback from Island firms. For each of the main themes to arise amongst respondents it details specific actions taken so far and improvements that they intend to take in the future.
Following the most recent piece of work Bettina Roth, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, said: ‘We are intent on future-proofing the Authority to ensure that we remain responsive and effective. I wish to thank all those who took part in the survey, as feedback from industry plays a crucial part in shaping our strategic plans. Working collaboratively continues to be a priority for the Authority and we have reflected on the survey findings with a view to further strengthening our engagement with firms.’
