SUMMARY

An online survey, including advanced segmentation and pricing techniques, to inform the development, pricing and branding of a new product in the Isle of Man.

Island Global Research conducted a survey on behalf of a company based in the Isle of Man who had developed a sanitiser spray that kills viruses and bacteria. Over 700 residents completed the online survey which sought feedback on their use of hand sanitiser in preparation of the launch of the new product.


Advanced analysis techniques provided in-depth insights that helped the Client to design a product that appealed to the potential customer base; price the product at a point which would maximise uptake; and refine the branding. This included:

  • Detailed segmentation to understand the views of different groups of respondents, in particular those considered to be within the main target market based on preferences and willingness to pay.
  • Use of the Van Westendorp Price Sensitivity Meter to enable an informed approach to pricing of the new product.
  • Choice tests to understand what product characteristics are important to potential customers.
  • Images were also incorporated into the questionnaire, enabling respondents to indicate their packaging preferences and provide feedback on the look and feel.
