SUMMARY
Insights to better understand and improve the visitor experience.
An online survey of residents was undertaken to gain insights into the visitor experience at each of the four attractions managed by the States of Guernsey, including the quality of exhibitions and value for money. It also looked to understand awareness of and views about the Discovery pass, reasons why residents may not have visited a site recently and suggestions for exhibition topics. Actions to improve the visitor experience at each site were identified and prioritised based on satisfaction scores. Market segmentation was undertaken to categorise residents into groups based on their enjoyment of museums and historic sites on and off-island, giving deeper insights into the types of people the sites are appealing to and the perceptions of Guernsey Museums amongst different segments.
The following year a short questionnaire on an A5-sized postcard was provided to visitors as they exited the four historic sites and museums managed by the States of Guernsey. It provided insights into the profile of people visiting the four sites, motivations for visiting, satisfaction with their visit and a net-promotor score. We designed the data collection tool, coordinated data collection alongside museum staff over the main visiting season, input the data and analysed it to provide a full report.
